What can we say to describe this absolutely amazing and unique family home? This charming and fascinating period property has over 2,100 Square Feet internal floor area which is rare to find in a property so close to excellent transport links. The property is spacious, light and airy and benefits from high ceilings and beautiful period features throughout.

You enter by the original stained glass front door that has been carefully restored by the owners, and come into a magnificent wide hallway with a grand staircase that reflects the history of the property. Here as elsewhere, the homeowners have constantly updated the property throughout the years with great attention to detail, in order to maintain the period character while ensuring that it functions well as a family home.

This property reflects the current owners’ passions of yoga and music. They have used the space for their needs, so downstairs the main reception area is the home to a large Yoga Studio, with a large glazed door to the garden. The room can, however, easily be reinstated as a grand and spacious reception room.

In addition to this there is a well-proportioned office/study that could continue to be used as an office or as another family room. This room, like most in the house, has large windows and plenty of natural light. It leads on to a bespoke kitchen that was designed by the owners, with amazing hidden storage solutions that make the kitchen clutter free.

The kitchen in turn opens on to a spacious dining area, again with customised built-in storage. The dining area has bi-fold doors opening onto a large and splendid garden that has been immaculately landscaped and taken care of by the owners, and which must be seen to be appreciated. The external areas include generous side access, as well as a landscaped front garden with off-street parking. There is a dedicated bike shed as well as a spacious garden shed.

On the first floor, there are three magnificent sized and well-proportioned bedrooms. The owner has transformed one of the rooms into a musician’s paradise which is home to a harpsichord and a grand piano and an impressive music library. In addition to this there is a modern family bathroom, and the bedroom at the rear of the property has views of the majestic landscaped garden.

The property does not end here, as you head to the second floor you are welcomed to a great size bedroom and ensuite bathroom which has been finished to a high standard.

This property must be viewed to be truly appreciated and has so much to offer, either as a family house, as a live/work property, or as a development opportunity.

This is what the Owners have to say about their property…

“When we bought the house, eighteen years ago, we were looking for a large detached house with scope to develop an interesting garden, flexible accommodation for our two passions - yoga and music - and a convenient location with excellent transport links. Over the years, the house has more than met our brief, and we have gradually updated it while retaining as much period character as possible. The garden has been a constant delight, and we have developed it from a blank canvas into a varied and interesting space, with seating areas to catch the morning and evening sun, and a wide range of plants for all seasons. We have both learnt a lot in the process, but we are now moving on, and planning a very active retirement in France, with plenty of projects in mind!

Among the things we will miss about the house are the sense of light and space, particularly the morning light through the stained glass, and the peaceful atmosphere which the house conveys. We will also miss the garden at different times of day - from listening to the dawn chorus in the morning before work to sitting in the evening, with a glass of wine, listening to the blackbirds and smelling the jasmine. We hope that the next owners enjoy both the house and garden as much as we have.”
